The current president is a horror of a person; a clear and present danger to our country.
It is truly amazing what garbage he claims to be truth, what realities he claims not to know, and the things he doesn’t know that he should. He denies verifiable descriptions of his behavior and speech. He routinely projects onto others abhorrent traits and characteristics that accurately describe him. He is the walking, talking embodiment of the “fake news” that he vilifies.
The following quote is from a Bluesky post by George Conway (someone I never imagined I would be favorably quoting) referring to the current president, “He’s incapable of empathy, conscience, morality, and remorse. He is a pathological liar. He has destructive personality disorders—narcissism, sociopathy, and paranoia. He speaks at the level of a fifth-grader and can barely spell, and his mental capacity deteriorates with each passing day.” Conway is on the right track.
The scary thing is that he has catalyzed a whole new psychological plague that I have named “MAGAlomania.” (My apologies if I’m not the first one to use this term. I’ve not come across it elsewhere.)
He has been able to delude an extraordinary number of people into thinking that he is not only brilliant, but has shamanic power that he will use to make their lives whatever they hope them to be.
He has convinced a majority of our legislators in both houses of congress that he holds the power to control their cherished political future.
These realities are appalling in their own right, but are made even more frightening by the fact that, in spite of his bizarre construing of so much of the world, he has found a way to manipulate others into creating a non-zero likelihood that our country’s democracy will succumb to a dictatorship with him as its leader.
We must stave this off. We must resist and rebuild. We have an obligation to ourselves and generations to come to undo this disaster as best we can and create a platform on which we and they can build.
Love the MAGAlomania, and agree we must stave off this pending evolution into a dictatorship, but have absolutely no idea how to resist this mess and rebuild our democracy. As far as I can tell, neither does anyone else. I have yet to hear one political leader tell us anti-MAGAlomaniacs what to do, how to do it, where to do it, when to do it. Not one. No one has stepped forward to actually lead a counterrevolution, no one has told me and the millions of other me’s what to do. No one has said, descend on X on this date and do Y. And I don’t think they ever will. I hope I am wrong.
